Sarah Bachinger (Pezdek) is an award winning and internationally published photographer and New Materialist artist residing in Upstate NY. Her 16 year career has offered a wide variety of experiences and opportunities – however, her current work has honed in on travel and environmental photography and working with artisans and sustainable + eco-friendly brands to build photo and video content to support those who support the planet.

Sarah takes pride in that she doesn’t fit into the mold of typical commercial photography.  Finding her niche between fine art, travel and commercial/lifestyle work, she is able to produce content that is original and stands out amongst the crowd – with a strong element of storytelling, and a dash of fine art.  This approach translates across genres from travel and nature, adventure brands, food, fashion and sustainable goods – creating a unique visual fingerprint for her clients that speaks to their origins, missions, and customers.

Sarah’s personal work is centers around documenting the Ukrainian Diaspora telling the stories of her heritage and culture, stories focusing on communities displaced by climate change and working with Indigenous and Marginalize communities to bring their stories to the forefront of the conversation around our changing climate. Sarah has work published in print an online with publications such as American Art Collector, OUT Magazine, Humana Obscura, Vogue Italia, Better Homes and Garden, Beekman Almanac, amongst others.  She has worked with brands such as Tom Ford, Estee Lauder, Brooks Brothers, Zac Posen, Beekman 1802, J Carr Wines.

Sarah is a standing member of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) and the Society of Environmental Journalists

Ode To A World On Fire

“We humans tend to believe that we are masters over nature, taking and destroying under the guise of forward progression.  Our systematic conditioning, our disconnection from our more-than-human kin – has limited our experiences and potential – I am curious about what happens if we break free from those confines and tap into what is outside that periphery. What is it about our thought processes, our influences, our environment, culture and society that drives us or hinders us? How do we shape our environment based on these elements – both external and internal? How do we break free from these confines and conditions? By doing so, how does that elevate us? Are we capable of this, and sustaining our existence ?”

This is a space where I hope to ponder and offer my visual perspectives on some of these questions, and share how I see this beautiful, chaotic, world on fire.
