While out documenting and collecting samples last summer for the Narrative Terrains project, Colors of the Anthropocene collection, on a brownfield site along the Hudson River – my husband and I stumbled upon these piles of iron slag and detritus from an old iron factory site that had been recently remediated. Hidden and partially covered behind one of the country’s oldest iron work buildings, in severe disrepair itself – they sadly proved to be an interesting source for images exploring industrial disregard towards the environment.
